Hello and welcome — my name is Pablo Ocampo, and I’m proud to carry the name Master Granite. But this title, and the story behind it, mean much more than just a name on a sign.

Back in 2007, I met a man named Bill Atkinson, the original “Master.” Bill was more than just a skilled craftsman — he had a passion for stonework and a personality that filled every room. He would always say, “I’m the Master — because I can do everything with granite, marble, and quartz!” I had the honor of working side-by-side with him every day for two years. He taught me the art, the technique, and most importantly, the pride in doing quality work.

After those two amazing years, Bill left the company, and I stayed. A full decade later, while I was still working in the trade, I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was Bill. We greeted each other warmly, but then he shared some devastating news — he had been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and only had a few months left to live. That day, we talked for an hour. I was heartbroken.

Nearly a year later, his wife Christy visited me. She told me Bill had passed away, but before he did, he gave her one final mission: “Please visit Pablo and tell him — he is the Master now.”

To me, Bill Atkinson will always be the original Master. But when it came time to name my granite business, it took just seconds — because I knew I wanted to honor him. That’s how Master Granite was born.

Today, at Master Granite, we carry forward Bill’s legacy of craftsmanship, honesty, and heart. We serve our community with pride, offering expert work in granite, marble, and quartz — and we do it with the same dedication that Bill inspired in me.
